I like the design, and if you use it as a stamp (press it down onto a ball of cookie dough), then it works well--but after removal, you will have to cut around the excess or use a cookie cutter to create a border. Even after greasing and flouring the mold, it will not come out if you put just enough to fill it in. I also had to use a toothpick to trace the features or put a tiny hole where the eyes belong. These springerle cookie moulds look like a good quality wood. They haven’t been used yet as I am giving them as a gift. The presses are of decent quality, with extremely varying depths. Details are beautiful. The main problem is the set was incomplete - missing the raspberry press.UPDATE: Seller contacted me and has sent the missing item. Updating to five stars because the seller went out of their way to make the transaction right. I highly recommend. There was a learning curve for me and it took a couple of Attempts before my cookies came out right. Very cuteThe mold is 2 pieces--the shaped top and flat bottom. The shaped top worked great except the flat bottom piece is missing, which makes it more difficult to use. I contacted seller, who said said I needed to contact Amazon, who never ever replied to my request. But if your into a LG. soap bar (soap making) or maybe even ceramics, it would be beautiful candy dish.
