UPDATE: April 11, 2022. Please read my original review for full content. This update is to say that I had a chance to try the BTC500DP on 240v today. I powered it with my Generac GP5500 generator. Just wanted to see if the generator could handle it. I know it won't handle the plasma cutter at full power, but should be enough for what I need. The BTC500DP recognized 240v no problem. I set the air for 50psi; amperage to 25 and 30 amps; and I had no problem cutting through 1/4" galvanized metal. At that current, I could possibly cut through 3/8". I don't want to stress my generator to try and cut 1/2" - 5/8". My generator at 240v can only handle 25-30 amps input. Anyway, the BTV500DP performed flawlessly. For 14 gauge sheet metal and thinner, I can run the plasma cutter on my 120v 20amp circuit. The plasma cutter can cut that metal at 15-20 amps (Cutting amps). Thicker than that, I'll use my generator up to 3/8". Eventually, I'll put in the 40am 240v circuit. Anyway; very impressed with the BTC500DP so far.I just received this plasma cutter today. In time, I may do an update on it, but for now I rate everything as a 5-star and I'll explain why. And as my title to this review says: "Why didn't I buy this a long time ago"?So, I won't be able to play with this for a few days because of a busy schedule. But I wanted to make sure that it at least worked out of the box with no issues. I've watch more youtube videos on plasma cutters than you can even imagine. As such, I felt comfortable knowing what I'm getting into. The 4 main reasons I chose the Bestarc BTC500DP over many others were:1) Highest review ratings of the ones I was considering.2. It had a REAL heavy duty 240v plug on it, with a 120v adapter. Not the other way around. The others with a 120v plug have a 14 gauge wire intended for UP TO 15 amps. Even if you use this on 120v, it's going to need more than 15 amps. So, having a real 240v heavy duty plug is/was important to me.3. It had a pilot arc start, and watching many youtube videos, including one on this exact cutter, it seemed like the best of the pilot arc that I was considering.4. Price vs quality vs features. There were a couple others that had pilot arc, but this one was one of the few that had post air settings. Most in this price range had a fixed post air setting. Post air is important to cool down the torch tip. Also, the provided air/oil separator on the Bestarc was much sturdier than the others I looked at. It has a standard quick disconnect for my air hose. None of this using a POS piece of rubber tubing and clamps. (Although, they do supple an air hose and clamps if that's how you want to do it). The BCT500DP also came with 2 extra sets of consumables. Finally, it's air pressure and volume requirements were much easier for me; not having a monster air compressor to work with. I'll explain that next. So, I took the BCT500DP out of the box and figured I'd give it a once over look and demo try. I don't have my 240v installed yet, (I'll be using this cutter on my generator if I need to cut any big stuff). So, only having 1 120v 20amp circuit in my garage, I turned on my air compressor (12 gallon 2hp) first to fill it up. After it was full, I unplugged the compressor and made sure I didn't have anything else running in the garage and I fired up the Bestarc BTC500DP.The cutter automatically recognized the 120v. I set the air for 50psi (Which is about 40psi dynamic when you're cutting and using air). Set the cutter for 15 amps. (Don't confuse CUTTING amps with the amps being drawn from the power cord. 2 TOTALLY different things). Took a piece of 16 gauge sheet metal that I had marked out to cut with a cutting wheel for a project I'm doing.... but figured, what the hell. Go for it. I don't have a dedicated plasma table, so I used my welding table and hung the sheet metal over the side and clamped down so it wouldn't move. Made a quick make shift guide to make my cut straight, and WENT FOR IT. "Holy Sheep $h*t Batman". I started on the end, lit the torch, saw it sparking and cutting through, slowly moved the torch, and cut out my piece. I was able to cut 2 each 6 inch cuts & 2 each 2 inch cuts and still had enough air in the tank. And the cut came out perfect. Well..... as perfect as someone who has never used a plasma cutting torch in their hand before can do.I also gave a 5-start for technical support. Prior to me buying this item, I had quite a few questions. I've read where "Some people" say customer/tech support is lacking. Sorry.... but I'm not buying it. When I contacted the seller, going through amazon of course, I asked a number of questions. I even mentioned that many of my questions could be answered if they could provide me a link to the owner's manual. In less than 24 hours, the seller (Bestarc) answered all my questions and sent me the PDF of the manual to go through. They were great. Also, be very careful when checking out some of the questions and reviews provided. Almost all of the sub-par reviews (3 stars) the person writing the review basically admitted that it was their fault. E.g. they accidentally ordered the wrong model or did something wrong. That's not bestarc's fault. There were 2 reviews from 2021 that said the item didn't work when they received it. Ok. That's possible. And I'm sure Amazon had no problem taking back the item. Sometimes "$h*t" happens. Sometimes you get a lemon. I've gotten lemons before. I send it back. If I get a replacement, THEN I'll do a review. But I don't do a review on an item I sent back. Get 2 or more bad replacements.... Then yes, give a bad review. And as for the many questions asked. It's obvious, that many who ask some of these questions have no idea what a plasma cutter. They probably shouldn't even be buying one. This isn't a pair of pliers. If you're interested in a plasma cutter, welder, ets... For god sakes..... watch some youtube videos. Know what you're getting into before asking questions that have no business being asked. I won't go over the type of questions because I don't want to make anyone feel bad. I'm simply saying: Take the questions, answers, and reviews with a grain of salt. Use youtube to find information. Become an informed customers. So far.... this is a great plasma cutter. I've only used it on 120v on a 20amp circuit and feel comfortable that it would have no problems cutting most sheet metal in the 14 gauge and thinner. Possibly up to 1/8th; but I'm not sure. On the 240v circuit, I'm sure it will have no problem cutting the advertised thickness. When I use my generator for 240v I will still be limited because I can only do up to 25-30 amps at 240v. (Again; that's input current/amps, NOT the cutting amps). But even at my generator limitations, it will cut more than thick enough for what I need. I only bought this size machine for possible future needs. And if those needs arise, I'll wire up a 40amp 240v circuits. (Yes, you need to rewire. You can't simply change out a breaker). Anyway; so far so good.No issue with operating unit. Only issue was one of the fittings was leaking air. After taking 16 screws off, just pushed the airline back on and happy with its operation. I think fittings work loose when shipping from China because I have read other people had same issue. Pressure gauge is slow to respond but will hold once set.I bought a different plasma cutter at first. It said it was a pilot arc machine but it wasn't. It had a picture with a AG60DP torch but it wasn't. So I returned it. This Bestarc had both as promised. It also had more features for the same price. I like the air pressure guage integrated into the front panel instead of the rear on other machines. I like the air filter, water separator and air hose connector integrated into the rear panel. The packaging is impressive. The instruction manual is great. It's written in English and uses correct grammar. It even explains the concept of plasma. I've cut up to 1/4 inch so far. The automatic dual voltage is handy. The adjustable after cool down air is a nice feature. I never write reviews but this plasma cutter was worth the effort. So when I first got this setup and plugged in, I could hear air hissing inside the machine. I had to take apart the water separator from the back and tighten the fitting. Not a big deal, but shouldn't need "fix" a new purchase right out of the box. Then when I tried to actually use it, it would only spit and sputter. After much troubleshooting I finally came to the conclusion that it's not getting enough current from my 110 outlet that is shared with my entire garage, as the lights would flicker with the sputter. So to test my theory, I took it in the house to an outlet that only serves the microwave and it fired right up. So until I can run a dedicated line to my garage for it, I'll have to try an extension cord from the house outlet when I need it. I'll most likely run 240 to my garage to get the most out of this machine. Bottom line, just make sure you either have a dedicated outlet if you're on 110 (120), or you have enough amps to serve the machine. How will you check this? I have no idea! :) Search it up. So far I haven't even cut with it. Can't do that in the house so I'll try the extension cord either this week, or next weekend and update my review. I have a good feeling about it though once I can power it properly. We'll find out soon.I first purchased a PlasmArgon unit because it was recommended to me. It was a little cheaper, but it required more setup, was less user friendly, and most importantly did not work. I returned it and bought the Bestarc. The guts are probably very similar but it came ready to plug in an go to work, and it has much better fit and finish. I'm still experimenting with settings to get the cut I want. I haven't run it on 110v but it does the job well on 220v and I have no reason to doubt it will do well on the lower voltage.Cuts great. Will cut half inch on 50 amp setting as advirtised. I'm happy with is performance and would buy again.tres bonne petite machine coupe 1/2 po, acier comme du beure ,facile à utiliser.tres utile je recommande.Je l'utilise pour couper des pièces de faibles épaisseurs en ce moment, j'aime bien le départ sans contact pourvu par la haute fréquence...ils disent que tu peux couper 1/8 de metal d epais apres lu les instructions et ajuster la machien rien de bon
